Racing Pigeons
Racing Pigeons ...
When I began with Racing Pigeons in 1983, the rules were the same. Each pair was locked in its own individual pen for the entire breeding season. No exceptions. When you see the (DDK) designation on any of our Racing Pigeon pedigrees, that's your assurance that the parents were locked in their individual pen. Why? Because we have done our own illegitimacy tests in our feeder lofts and could document that at least 50 percent of the young birds came from parents other than the designated parents. Male pigeons spend all day, every day, trying to breed with any hen they can. They succeed far more often than we imagine. |
